United Way news

  • Mary Gardner is a new manager of education programs. She was previously a school improvement and turnaround specialist at the Indiana Department of Education.
  • Deborah Lewers is a new manager of individual leadership giving on the resource development team.
  • Tony Mattingly is a new temporary data entry clerk in accounting.
    Congratulations to Lisa Busse and her husband Brad on the birth of their daughter, Olivia Lynn, born Friday, January 18.

Agency news

  • Mount Zion Academy's new executive director is Diana Gardenhire.
  • WellSpring is now known as WellSpring Center.
  • Martin Center is now known as Martin Center Sickle Cell Initiative.
  • Youth Connections moved to new offices 460 North Morton Street, Suite A, Franklin, IN 46131. Their mailing address continues to be P.O. Box 115, Franklin, IN 46131.
  • Teresa D. Wessel is the new executive director of Horizon House, having most recently as the agency’s director of development.

United Way news

  • Becky Fox has been promoted to manager, corporate volunteerism.
  • Celeste Gellenbeck has joined United Way as a Youth Leadership Initiative intern in the Volunteer Center.
  • Demetrius Glover is United Way's new research and evaluation director, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Bob Cross.
  • Jenna James has joined United Way as a videographer in the marketing department through a fellowship from the Glick Foundation.
  • Charles Young, associate director, Donor Relations has announced his retirement. He will volunteer as a member of the Diversity Leadership Circle steering committee and United Way’s Committee on Diversity.

Agency news

  • United Way's board-approved certification of Indiana Connected By 25, Inc. as a United Way agency, effective January 1. Connected By 25 has operated as a program of United Way of Central Indiana since its launch in 2008. The agency provides support to youth aging out of foster care to help them transition successfully to adulthood.
  • Sue Ritz will retire as executive director of Boone County Senior Services at the end of January. Anita Bowen has been hired as her replacement.
  • John Joanette resigned as executive director of Horizon House. A replacement has not yet been named. .
  • April Bordeau will serve as interim CEO of Sheltering Wings  during the search to replace Maria Larrison who resigned December 5.

  • Michelle Beer, agency services associate, is promoted to agency services manager.
  • Brenda Cuminghan is a new temporary, data entry clerk in accounting.
  • Chris Herndon has been promoted to vice president of strategic marketing & communications.
  • Shannon Jenkins is a new ReadUP program manager.

Agency news

  • Tina Cloer is the new president and chief executive officer of Indianapolis-based The Children's Bureau Inc. She has worked for Adult and Child Mental Health for the past 17 years and most recently served as director of child and adolescent services.
  • Shannon Russell-Rinnaker is the new director at the Witham YMCA in Lebanon, replacing Lora Pennington. Shannon formerly worked at the Jordan YMCA in Indianapolis.

  • Shannon Cochran, manager, new business development, has been promoted to senior manager, business development.
  • Bob Cross, research and planning director, is retiring.
  • Angela Dabney has been selected by IBJ for the 2012 Women of Influence distinction to be presented November 1.
  • Tiffany Dow, manager, volunteer coordination & placement, will be leaving United Way to become senior program director for YMCA of Greater Indianapolis.
  • Kelsey Dumoulin, associate, donor relations, has been promoted to manager, donor relations.
  • Ashley Furois is a new donor relations associate.
  • Katie Hackney, manager, donor retention, has been promoted to senior manager, donor retention.
  • Diamond Herrera is a temporary data entry clerk in accounting through year end.
  • Boyd Jackson, Caring Club coordinator, is leaving United Way to join All Sport Couture LLC.
  • Ashley Klein, logistics coordinator, is leaving to pursue her real estate career full time.
  • Kristian Little is a new outreach manager for early childhood.
  • Dr. Ted Maple is one of 100 finalists for Indy’s 2012 Best and Brightest! He will be honored by Junior Achievement October 11.
  • Derek Morris, associate, donor relations, has been promoted to manager, donor relations
  • Sheila Pegues is a new data entry clerk in a temporary accounting position.
  • Jessica Rodgers has been promoted to digital marketing manager.
  • Jessie Smith has been promoted to marketing associate.

Agency news

  • Karen Burkley resigned as executive director at WellSpring. The agency’s board chair, Patti Ostler, is handling operations in the interim.
  • Mark Monson is Fairbanks' new president & CEO.
  • Kim Walton, is the new interim executive director for Lutheran Child & Family Services. The agency is developing a partnership with Community Health Network Behavioral Health Services, providing administrative leadership and bringing quality mental health services to residential programs.
  • Training Inc. is moving October 1 to 1125 Brookside Ave, Suite 210, Indianapolis, 46202. Their phone and fax numbers are unchanged.

  • Judith Rosario, ReadUP manager, has resigned to become Deputy Director for Centro Hispano of Dane County Wisconsin.
  • Loaned Associates assisting the annual campaign include: Susan Andersch for FedEX; Carolyn Caver from UPS; John Cayton, an IUPUI grad student; Jesse Fleming from FedEX; Melissa Humbert from Citizens Energy Group; Cathy Meyers sponsored by Vectren to work part time in Hendricks County; and, Andrea Steed and Mike Wilson from Eli Lilly and Company.

  • Helene Cross has announced her retirement after nearly 12 years as president & CEO of Fairbanks. Mark Monson, previously COO of Beaver Dam Community Hospitals in Wisconsin, is the new executive.
  • Patti Ostler is overseeing operations at WellSpring with the resignation of Karen Burkley as executive director.

  • Nicole Martinez-LeGrand, donor relations associate, has left to join the community relations staff at the Children’s Museum.
  • Joe Phillips, director, agency evaluations, a 24 year employee, has made the decision to transition to part-time status effective January 2013.

Agency news

  • Ron Carpenter has announced his last day as President & CEO at Children’s Bureau, Inc. will be August 1, 2012. Ron, who has been with the agency for 26 years, 16 of those as CEO, is leaving to become the new President of Indiana State University Foundation. The agency’s VP & COO, Janice Klein, will serve as the interim CEO while the board conducts a national search.
  • Major Barbara MacLean became the new divisional secretary of The Salvation Army on July 2.
  • Declining memberships and increased operating costs were cited as factors that caused the Indianapolis Senior Center board to vote to dissolve the agency effective June 30, 2012. United Way of Central Indiana, CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions and Central Indiana Community Foundation will help the agency transition clients and members to other programs and services, and make sure the transportation services remains intact. United Way’s Executive Committee has authorized use of the agency’s 2012-13 approved allocation to help with transition expenses.
